Now Booking Lanes: LumberjAxes’ New Locations in Cranberry and Monroeville

Pittsburgh’s premier axe-throwing company expands to accommodate demand.

PITTSBURGH, Pennsylvania – (Oct. 28, 2019) In Pittsburgh, axe-throwing is an entertainment option that’s worth crossing bridges for. When Corey Deasy founded the first LumberjAxes location in Millvale, the concept was new to the area. Two years and countless bullseyes later, the business has a second location in Mt. Lebanon (as well as third in Phoenix, Ariz.) and has officially opened bookings for two more in the Pittsburgh area: One in Monroeville (10,000 square feet) and one in Cranberry (6,500 square feet). The reason: it’s what the people want.

Opened in 2017, LumberjAxes was Pittsburgh’s first axe-throwing business and remains the bustling gold-standard, with the area’s largest venues and most immersive experiences. Last year the business remodeled its 7,500-foot Millvale location to evoke a rustic cabin, creating a woodsy getaway in the midst of the city. As Pittsburgh Steeler Juju Smith-Schuster observes, “It’s lit!”

While flinging axes at targets may seem like an extreme way to have a good time, LumberjAxes, a member of the National Axe-Throwing Federation, adheres to rigorous safety regulations and creates a fun, welcoming atmosphere for adults of all experience levels, from old hands to newbies encountering their inner lumberjacks for the first time. LumberjAxes provides all the axes you can throw, along with experts to instruct on proper technique and safety. It’s a cutting-edge activity that locals have taken to with gusto.

“We noticed that folks were traveling pretty far to get to our first two venues,” says Deasy. “It was clear we needed to bring their favorite axe-throwing place closer to them.”

With the addition of Monroeville and Cranberry, LumberjAxes will have locations in the north, south, east, and center of the Pittsburgh region. Deasy notes that the company would like to be considered to host a national axe-throwing tournament, and having four venues will give them the capacity to do so. LumberjAxes already hosts an axe-throwing league whose members are eligible to qualify for nationals.

All four locations will be available for corporate and special events for groups of up to 100+. For events such as weddings, birthdays, family reunions and more, LumberjAxes rents portable throwing lanes, complete with an axe-throwing coach.

“We’re proud to have introduced axe-throwing to Pittsburgh, but we’re not going to stop there,” notes Deasy. “We’re always thinking of ways to enhance the experience and bring it to more people. We know folks here are game.”
